We are Stronger than Winston!

Firstly congratulations to our Vodafone Fijian 7s team for winning the USA Sevens and bringing smiles to the people of Fiji.#As we go through the rehabilitation works after the devastation caused by Cyclone Winston I’m sure the win has brought happiness to everyone.#The Fiji FA Board Meeting was held last Sunday and I’m happy to reveal that Fiji FA Board have approved to provide assistance to affected national players.#We are going to assist our current national players and also former players who are badly affected by the Cyclone.#We cannot assist everyone but we will try to do our best to help them rebuild their lives.#The affected players will have to come to us and request for assistance and our technical department will go and assess the damages before any assistance is given.#I request our current national and former national players to come forward if they need help.#Tournament Hosts#As a promised during Labasa’s Vodafone Fiji FACT win celebration last year it has been sealed that the pool matches of the Vodafone Fiji FACT will be played at Subrail Park, from June 17-18.#After the pool matches the venue for the semi-finals and final will decided.#The Battle of the Giants tournament will once again hosted by Rewa. It will be staged at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori. It will be played under the format introduced last year in which the pool matches will be played from September 26-28 and the semifinals and final will be played on September 4.#The Courts IDC will be played at Lautoka’s Churchill Park. This will depend on the availability of the venue from October 6-10.#Ethic Committee#The Fiji FA Board has appointed an Ethic Committee that will deal with complains received from outside the field of play.#We have a three-member committee of barristers Shalendra Nadan, Shalend Krishna and magistrate Jotishna Nair.#Premier League#Our Vodafone Premier League will resume in early April. The National League Board is working on the draft fixtures of the competition as we have a very busy calendar with Suva and Nadi participating in the OFC Champions League, Pacific Nations Cup and the Rio Olympics in August.#Rajesh Patel#President#Fiji Football Association #
