Ba FC and Navua FC will kick off the 2027 domestic football season with a showdown in the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion (CVC) series early next year.
Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf confirmed that Navua had qualified for the series as runners-up of the 2026 FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC), following Ba’s historic clean sweep of all four major domestic titles this season.
Ba completed a remarkable 2026 campaign by winning the Extra Premier League, Fiji FACT, Extra Battle of the Giants and FMF IDC titles.
Yusuf explained that under the Pillay Garments CVC competition regulations, the Extra Premier League champion traditionally faces the FMF IDC winner in the season-opening series.
However, if the same team wins both competitions, the Fiji FACT champion becomes the next eligible opponent.
If the Fiji FACT winner is also the same team, qualification passes to the Extra Battle of the Giants champion.
Should one team claim all four titles, the FMF IDC runner-up automatically qualifies for the CVC series.
With Ba winning every major domestic title this season, Navua have earned the right to challenge the Men in Black in the 2027 competition.
Navua secured their place after finishing runners-up to Ba in Sunday’s FMF IDC Super Premier Division final at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
The Men in Black defeated Navua 2-0, with David Supa opening the scoring in the 80th minute before Etonia Dogalau sealed the victory from the penalty spot in the 87th minute.
Despite the defeat, Navua’s impressive run to the IDC final has been rewarded with another opportunity to face the country’s most successful team of the 2026 season.
The CVC series will provide an exciting start to the 2027 football calendar, with Ba looking to continue their dominance while Navua will be determined to challenge the reigning champions.
