Women on the roll

The Vodafone Senior Women’s League 2018 kicked off on Saturday at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.
Tailevu Naitasiri defeated Lami 4-0 in the opening match and Rewa thrashed Nasinu 8-0 while Suva beat Navua 3-2.
Fiji FA assistant competition manager Lewa Moce said the teams came more organised this year.
“We can see the teams are more organised as all teams are really prepared for the competition,”Moce said.
She said it was that the national team players were released to feature for their districts.
“The national women team players featured for their respective districts which boosted the teams performance.
Moce said Nasinu and Lami were very young side.
“Looking at the teams Rewa and Naitasiri have some of their experience players while Lami and Nasinu had a development team but in years to come both teams would be very competitive,”Moce said.
“Some of these players participate in the Vodafone U18 Women’s League as well and it is good to see that teams are using some youth players for development.”
Meanwhile in the Vodafone U18 Women’s League last weekend Lautoka defeated Nadroga 4-3 while Nadi and Tavua played to a nil-all draw.
