Global Care Suva FC, Extra Supermarket Labasa FC, Stratum/PPCL Rewa FC and Dayal’s Steel Ba FC made winning starts as the Extra Battle of the Giants 2026 kicked off at Four R Stadium at Govind Park in Ba.
Suva opened the tournament with a 3–1 victory over 10-man Blue Gas Navua FC in Group A.
Walter Leoru gave Navua the lead in the 12th minute before Gagame Feni equalised shortly after the break. Navua captain Thomas Dunn was shown a red card in the 52nd minute as Suva took control of the contest and secured all three points.
Defending champions Labasa also started strongly, edging Nasinu FC 1–0 in the second Group A fixture.
Joseph Naime’s first-half goal proved decisive as the Babasiga Lions held firm against a determined Nasinu side.
In Group B, Rewa defeated Khelvin Engineering Lautoka FC 2–0.
Merrill Nand opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Josaia Sela converted a penalty in the 61st minute to seal the Delta Tigers’ victory.
Hosts Ba completed the opening-day programme with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Tagimoucia Nadi FC.
John Orobulu struck in the 13th minute, and the Men in Black defended their narrow advantage until the final whistle.
The tournament continues today with another four matches at Four R Stadium.
Blue Gas Navua FC will face Nasinu FC at 11.30am before Lautoka takes on Nadi at 1.30pm.
The two opening-day Group A winners, Labasa and Suva, will meet at 3.30pm, while Ba and Rewa will clash in an anticipated Group B showdown at 5.30pm.
