Winning start for Fiji football teams

The Vodafone national women and men football registered wins during the opening day of the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

The women team walloped American Samoa 11-0 while Roy Krishna captained Bula Boys won 2-1 against Tahiti.

For women’s side Luisa Tamanitoakula, Cema Nasau, Adi Bakaniceva and Ledua Senisua scored two goals each while Viniana Riwai, Annet Nainima and Jotivini Tabua added their name also on the score sheet. An own was goal scored by American Samoa.

For the men’s side Samuela Drudru scored the opening goal in the 8th minute of play while Roy Krishna scored from the penalty spot in the 66th minute while Tahiti pulled one back in the 88th minute.

The Marika Rodu coached side will play New Caledonia in its second match on Friday at 12pm (FT) while Bula Boys will take on American Samoa on Wednesday at 9am.
