Three Vodafone Fiji men’s football team players have been handed hefty fines and suspension after failing to attend camp last month.
Fiji FA chief executive officer confirmed that they appeared before the Fiji FA Board on Saturday.
“They were all presented with their representatives during the hearing on Saturday and lot of mitigation was done, “said Yusuf.
“After close consideration of their explanation and further based on their previous similar disciplinary cases they were sentenced accordingly, “said Yusuf.
Lautoka’s Kolinio Sivioki and Ba’s Ilmotama Jese and Narendra Rao’s case was dealt during the Fiji FA Board meeting at Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbor.
“Rao has been suspended from all levels of football activities for the season and fined $3000 which should be paid prior to his participation at any level of football and there shall be no appeal on the fine amount,”
“Rao is the first offender and decision was made agreeing to some of his facts, “said Yusuf
“Jese has been suspended for three years and fined $10,000. This was his second offence and he can only appeal after two years of serving his suspension.”
“Sivoki has been suspended for five years and will be able for parole after serving his suspension for three years. He is fined $20,000.00 which must be paid prior to his participation at any level of football.”
Yusuf said this was Sivoki’s second time when he let us down.
“This is not Sivoki’s first time that he has done that and as you all must remember he broke camp during the Olympic Games as well in 2016 and we gave him second chance, “said Yusuf.
Yusuf says they spent a lot of money and invested resources into these players as they were in the final squad for the Pacific Games.
