The Vodafone Fiji women’s team brought in smiles to the children during the Mom & Pop League program at Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa on Saturday.
Despite the wet weather about 45 children made their way to participate in the program which entered its fourth week.
The players joined in to teach the basic skills to kids which brought in smiles to many.
Ten-year old Salestino said he was happy to meet and greet the national women’s players.
“I was really happy to meet and greet some of the players as this was my first time to see and know them, “he said.
Meanwhile the Vodafone national men’s team also joined in with the kids in Ba with an in-door program at Fiji FA Academy in Ba.
The kids were excited to meet team captain Roy Krishna.
Both teams will leave our shores this Friday in their aim to win gold for the country in the South Pacific Games in Samoa.
The women’s team will start its campaign against American Samoa in the 2019 South Pacific Games in Samoa.
Both teams will battle at 12pm at Faleata Sports Complex on Monday July 8.
The Marika Rodu coached side will then face host Samoa on Friday July 12 at 3.30pm in their second match.
Fiji, the second highest-ranked team in the competition will be joined by Tonga, New Caledonia and American Samoa.
Fiji’s third match will be against New Caledonia on Monday July 15 at 1.30pm while their final pool match will be against Tonga on Thursday July 18 at 12pm.
The format for the competition will be:
Teams will play a round robin within their pool in the group phase of the competition.
The top placed team in each group will advance to the gold medal match.
The runner-ups in each group will play in the bronze medal match.
The finals will be played on Saturday July 20.
