Teams urges to confirm particiaption

Teams interested in participating in this year’s RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings International Veteran’s Tournament are urged to confirm their participation by end of this week.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said four overseas teams were confirmed.

“Four overseas teams have confirmed their participation which includes USA Ba Masters led by former Fiji rep Navin Kumar and Akuila Rova, Esala Masi’s Bula Boys from Melbourne, New Zealand Levuka and New Zealand Rewa,” said Yusuf.

Yusuf said they had space for twelve local team to make it sixteen teams.

“We have received confirmations from Suva Masters, Nasinu Masters, Nadi Masters and Lautoka Masters but there is still space for eight more teams and if they interested in participating they should confirm by the end of this week by paying their registration fee of $500,”

Yusuf said they were having only sixteen team to draw them in four pools.

“We want to give chance to every district and sixteen teams will see four teams in a pool which will be drawn as soon as we receive their confirmation, “

He said the tournament would be played from 1-4 August in Nausori.

“The over 40s tournament will be played with the INKK Mobile BOG’s semi-finals and finals at Ratu Cakobau Park,”

“Eight games will be played on Thursday August 1 while fourteen games will be played on Friday 2nd August and two matches on Saturday morning while quarter-finals will be played after the BOG semi-finals. The semi-finals will be played on Sunday while the final will be the curtain-raiser for Battle of the Giants 2019,” said Yusuf.

Yusuf confirmed that there was an increase in the prize-money this year.

“We have increased the prize-money with the winner walking away with $5000 while the runner- up gets $2000.”

“The money raised during the tournament will be given to children of former players for their education,” said Yusuf.
