Former Labasa and national midfielder Anand Sami has joined Tavua football in preparation for the 2017 Courts Inter District Tournament.
Association president Pranesh Prakash confirmed that Swamy will be assisting the team in preparation for the Courts IDC.
“Yes Sami will be with team and assisting us in preparation for the tournament, “Prakash said.
He said he was sent by the former residents of Tavua now residing in Sydney Australia.
“Our fans from Sydney have helped us in getting him to assist us and we welcome him with our open arms, “Prakash said.
Prakash said Sami was bringing with him wealth of experience as he was a very good player and coach.
“We all know how good player he was and his capabilities as a coach and that will help us a lot in our preparation.”
“I am very thank full to the supporters of Tavua and Tavua Football Club of Sydney Australia for assisting us in getting him to our shores.
Tavua made a return to the premier division after winning the Vodafone Senior League defeating Seaqaqa 3-1 and will feature in the Courts IDC.
The Gold miners last won the major tournament in 1994 when they won the Vodafone Fiji FACT and in 1995 they clinched the Courts IDC trophy.
They are drawn in Group A with host Lautoka, Suva and Nadi.
