Rodu in the hunt for new national women’s football players

National women’s football coach Marika Rodu would be eyeing for potential players for the upcoming women tournaments.
The Vodafone Women’s Inter District Championship which kicks off this weekend at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.
The Vodafone Fiji sponsored team coach said he would go through some selection criteria during the IDC and urged players to show their best.
“I will be following the selection process for the senior and u-19 team for the national team commitment this year, “said Rodu.
He said he would also monitor the performance of the current players.
“We will see the performance of the current players and also potential players and good opportunity to test them after the festive season.”
Rodu urged the senior players to help the upcoming players in the tournament.
“I would like to see the senior players guiding the new players and at the same time perform extra ordinary performance to prove themselves and show the different calibre they have for those who have been in the national team last year so that the younger player may look up to them and motivated to perform their best,”
The former national rep said the tournament would be very exciting.
‘The eight teams participating in this tournament have prepared well and I am sure it will be a good IDC,”
“This will be a tough competition amongst the best eight teams, “said Rodu.
“Ba has been the champions of women’s football in the country as they have won the title seven times but nothing could be taken from other teams as they all are preparing well, “said Rodu
The 2018 Vodafone Women’s Inter District will be played from January 25-27 where the pool stages will be held and the semi-finals and final a week later.
