The Rewa Youth football side has kept their seven- year unbeaten record in the 2016 Vodafone Youth League.
The Baby Tigers are on the verge of winning the Southern Zone competition as they sit on top of the points table with 21 points after playing seven matches.
The Nigel Khan coached side thrashed Nasinu Youth 11-1 in the opening match, won 2-1 against Suva Youth, walloped Tailevu Naitasiri 6-2, thumbed Navua Youth 6-1 ,thumbed Northland Tailevu Youth 7-2, , thrashed Suva Youth 10-1,won 5-2 against Tailevu Naitasiri, and 2-0 against Navua.
They are yet to play Northland Tailevu and Nasinu in the second round of matches and a win in any match will give them the southern zone title.
Khan said their aim had been to keep the unbeaten record and thanked his players following the game plan.
“We had a game plan from starting of season and we told our players that we want to keep the unbeaten record and they have done so far, “said Khan.
He said the season had been very fruitful as they have develop more new players in the squad.
“We have been developing players for our premier team and our players are also given opportunity to play for the national teams.
“We have very committed and dedicated players who have the heart for Rewa and I think that what brings our success.”
Khan said they had developed young players who have featured for district and national team.
“The development programme we have set is very fruitful as we can see players like Iosefo Verevou, Ratu Tevita Warainivalu, Gerish Prasad and Setareki Hughes all came from our development programme and making their names.
“This is year three of our players featured for Vodafone Fiji U20 team in Vanuatu recently like Bruce Hughes, Savenaca Baleidrokadroka and Isimeli Batiratu. They are ready for our main team, “Khan said.
The Vodafone Youth champion is decided with a play off between the winners of Southern, Western and Northern side.
