The Fiji Football Association vice-president and chairman of the 2017 Courts Inter-District Championship grounds committee Tarunesh Reddy says, the fan can expect thrilling matches during the tournament at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Reddy said the stage was all set for the five days of thrilling matches with few touch ups to done.
“The Lautoka City Council is working overtime to set up everything for the tournament, “Reddy said.
He said Churchill Park currently has one of the best playing facilities in Fiji.
“The Management of Lautoka City Council promised the venue will be at its pristine when the tournament proper kicks off on October 10 and we can see the effort put in by them.”
“Churchill Park is hosting the prestigious tournament after five years. “
“The last IDC tournament was held here in 2013 in which Ba won the title defeating Nadi 2-1 in the final.”
Reddy said Churchill Park was a fantastic place to play football and Courts IDC was massive for Lautoka City and Fiji Football Association.
“The IDC is always the most awaited tournament in Fiji as people from all over the world follow this tournament and many even fly into the country to watch it live.”
“Competition is always of the highest standard as players display their best and play for district pride and honour.”
Reddy said the 2017 Courts IDC promises to be an exciting and pompous fanfare and we undoubtedly should brace ourselves for top level of local football on one of the best football pitch in the country.
“Hosting a tournament of this caliber and nature will also be beneficial for businesses in Lautoka as a large turnout from spectators is expected, “Reddy said.
“Needless to say, this is a very effective way for us to assist our Government in their development and progress of our country and show the whole world what we are about as after all football is a sport that unites all the different races and brings people from different walks of life together.”
