Ready for qualifiers

Vodafone Fiji women’s football team coach Marika Rodu says they are well prepared for the 2018 OFC Nations Cups qualifiers which kicks off this Friday in Lautoka.
Speaking during the naming of the final twenty-member squad last Thursday, Rodu said they had done the hard work in their preparation.
“We have done the hard work, when we came back from Vanuatu last year it was a good learning experience for us and now we are well prepared knowing the key strength of our opponents,” said Rodu.
“We have dealt with our weaknesses and we are really looking forward to the tournament in Lautoka.”
Rodu said there was a good mixture of girls within the team compromising of players averaging 19-20 years old.
“When we look at the time line, I think we have good five to six years together with this players and the players who are selected in the final twenty have really raised their hands up to show that they want to be part of the history we wanted to create,” said Rodu.
The former Rewa and national rep said they do not want to play in qualifying rounds in future.
“We want to show the world that we don’t deserve to be playing in the qualifying rounds anymore,”Rodu added.
Rodu said Fiji FA had assisted in every ways we wanted to prepare for the tournament and I thanked each and every one for their support.
“As we all know there is not much history in women’s football but the effort and amount of value that we trying to add has begun to show some positive signs in last few years.”
“The girls have the big responsibility and the same goes with me to maintain focus on the vision that we have adopted and the philosophy that we have been brought about to improve football, “the former Rewa coach added.
The Vodafone National women’s team plays its first match this Friday at 3pm against Vanuatu at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
