Rakiraki Out To Stamp Its Mark

Newcomers Rakiraki is out to stamp its mark at the upcoming Vodafone Fiji FACT.

And the team’s 1-all draw against CVC champion Lautoka in the Vodafone Premier League, has boosted the morale of the players.

They are expected give its opponents a good run for their money in their first ever Fiji FACT tournament. The side will face Suva in its opening game before tackling Lautoka and Rewa later in the pool games.

The Maroons have drawn against Lautoka and lost to Suva and Rewa in the league games and they know what to expect from these teams.

There are no big names in the team but they have some exciting and talented boys who can adapt well to top level competition. This is a huge test for the westerners

They will be working hard to show that they are not at the 2017 Vodafone Fiji FACT to make up the numbers. They have a young side and will hope that youth and fitness gives them edge in this pool with host Rewa, Lautoka and Suva. From this pool they have nothing to lose and can count on some fan support for their first appearance in one of the major tournaments in Fiji FA calendar.

They need to prove they belong in the top flight and the 2017 Vodafone Fiji FACT is the stage they will need to step up and show they are not easy beats. They will have at least one big game in them and the team that underestimates the Rakiraki side may find themselves on the wrong side of a giant slaying moment.

Rakiraki open its campaign against Suva on Friday at 1pm.
