Preview-Nadi vs Lautoka

Defending champion Lautoka will clash Jack’s Nadi in the second semifinal of the 2018 Courts Inter-District Championship at 5pm today.
The Jetsetters had an impressive outing so far progressing to the knockout stages unbeaten.
For a start they were planning for, they defeated hosts Suva 2-1 in the opening match before thrashing Tavua 5-1 in the second match before handing Rewa’s third straight loss with a 3-1 comeback win.
Imports Horrace James and Imraan Shah had a great impact on the team all throughout. James combined well strike-force partner Rusiate Matarerega to keep the opponent defenders at bay in all the games. New Zealand-based Shah, who scored in the first two games and was named the player of day 2, controlled midfield together with Rahul Krishna.
Nadi topped group B and are one of the two teams yet to taste a defeat in the tournament.
The Fan-sponsored Lautoka also had a perfect start to its IDC campaign with an impressive 2-0 opening victory over Ba.
Coach Kamal Swamy’s tactic in making changes to the team that played first game did not work out as they went down to Labasa 1-0 in the second day of the competition. Swamy once again fielded the team that played Ba and Blue punished newcomers Nasinu 8-0 to book their place in the semifinal.
Solomon import Benjamin Totori had been instrumental for the Blues as he currently leads the goal scoring chart with Nadi’s Rusiate Matarerega having scored four goals. Sairusi Nalaubu had a great start in the blue jumper as he netted the first goal on his debut against Ba on Friday while former Ba rep Samuela Nabenia managed to find the net against Nasinu.
