Papua New Guinea made an impressive start to the women’s competition at the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2026 with a commanding 4–0 victory over the Fiji Kulas at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Keren Kalapai delivered the standout performance of the opening day, completing a first-half hat-trick with goals in the 3rd, 7th and 38th minutes.
Calista Maneo added PNG’s fourth goal just a minute after the restart to seal the victory.
In the opening match, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands shared the points following a 1–1 draw.
Jane Alatoa gave Vanuatu an early advantage when she found the net in the 11th minute, with her side carrying the lead into the half-time break.
Solomon Islands continued searching for an equaliser and were rewarded in the 74th minute through Lorina Solosaia.
Neither side managed to find a winning goal during the remaining minutes as the first match of the tournament ended level.
The opening day produced six goals across the two matches, with Papua New Guinea finishing the day as the early leaders of the women’s competition
