PNG CONTINUE WINNING RUN, VANUATU EDGE KULAS

Papua New Guinea continued their impressive start to the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2026 Women’s competition, while Vanuatu secured their first victory at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.

In the opening match, Papua New Guinea defeated New Caledonia 4-1 to register their second successive win of the tournament.

Keren Kalapai opened the scoring in the 12th minute to give PNG a 1-0 advantage at the break.

Captain Ramona Padio doubled the lead in the 57th minute before Nenny Elipas struck twice, in the 68th and 78th minutes, to put PNG firmly in control.

New Caledonia continued to battle and were rewarded in the 90th minute when Carasesiane Eloane found the back of the net.

In the second match, the Fiji Kulas went down 1-0 to Vanuatu after the teams were locked 0-0 at half-time.

The decisive moment arrived in the 64th minute when Elina Aruvuha scored to put Vanuatu ahead.

Fiji pushed in search of an equaliser during the closing stages, but Vanuatu protected their advantage until the final whistle.
