Northland U16 upsets Suva

The Northland Tailevu U16 football side is currently on top of the points table in the Vodafone U16 Youth League after completion of three rounds of matches last Saturday at Fiji FA Academy Grounds in Vatuwaqa.
The side defeated Tailevu Naitasiri 5-1 in the opening match and won 3-0 against Nasinu. Last Saturday the boys in green defeated Suva who were also undefeated 3-1.
This is something like history for the Northland Tailevu after disappointing performance in last season.
Coach Kritesh Prasad said they had an aim this year and was proud that they were achieving their goal.
“We had our aim this year to develop our future stars and I am happy that we are going in the right direction,” said Prasad.
“The boys are really committed and dedicated for the district. Three players from this U16 team have already played for the senior on our 3-0 win against Rakiraki.”
Looking at the match against Suva, Prasad said they were confident of the win knowing that Suva was also undefeated.
“We knew our boys will do their best in the match and hats off to the boys for the gallant performance.”
Mataiasi Drodrolagi scored the opener in the 37 minute while Sanaila Kacisolomone scored goals in the 53rd and 87th minute while Arsh Farook scored for Suva.
Suva coach Rohini Chand said she was not really disappointed with results but would come out more prepared in the next match.
“I am not really disappointed with the results but there are some mistakes in our team which we will work this week,”said Chand,
Suva now sits on second position with six points on the Vodafone U16 Youth League.
Meanwhile Rewa and Navua played to a 1-1 draw in the final match of the day on Saturday.
