Newcomers Tavua won the hearts of many football fans during the 2017 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
They came in as surprise after been promoted this season and stunned many other top teams in their pool matches.
Tavua held Nadi and Lautoka to a draw. It was unfortunate that the Anand Sami coached- side lost to Suva 3-1 and narrowly missed out on qualifying to the semi-finals.
Tavua FA president Pranesh Prakash said he was proud of his young brigadiers for the excellent performance.
“I must thank my team players and officials for giving their best show at the Courts IDC,”Pranesh said,
He praised the work done by former Fiji legend Anand Sami in the preparation for the Courts IDC.
“Anand just came in three weeks ago and he did a marvelous job in building the team,”
“He brought in vast knowledge of football which helped the team mentally and physically.”
Pranesh said they came in the top division with an aim and they will not let it ruin.
“We have been preparing this young squad for past three years and today they are giving us back. They all are very discipline and dedicated players.”
“We are aiming to stay in the Premier Division and will work hard in the preparation for next year,”
He also thanked all the supporters who came out in numbers to support the team.
