Nadi beats Lautoka in semis

The Jacks Nadi football side confirmed their spot in the final of 2019 Vodafone Fiji FACT after Lautoka 3-2 in an electrifying first semifinal at Churchill Park.

Nippy midfielder Rahul Krishna gave the Jetsetters an early lead in the 14th minute of play after taking advantage of a miss clearance from Lautoka defense.

In the 35th of play Lautoka defender Kolinio Sivoki gave some hope to the home crowd after heading a Jone Vesikula conrner kick past Nadi goalkeeper Vereti Dickson to level the score 1-1.

The teams rested 1-1 at halftime.

 The Pranesh Amarsee coached Nadi outfit entered the second spell with more determination and the urge to expose the weaknesses in Lautoka’s defence.

Jeshal Kumar scored Nadi’s second goal in the 53rd minute to put the Jetsetters into 2-1 lead while in 67th minute striker Tito Vodowaqa headed in the third goal for Nadi.

Replacement marksman Sairusi Nalaubu pulled another one back for Lautoka from a Zibraaz Sahib corner in the 74th minute to make the remaining 15 minutes of the match more exciting.

Lautoka soccer coach Kamala Swamy: “We let is some silly goals that gave Nadi the advantage. Our players were ball watching and they scored. We did well to fight back but it was not enough.”

Nadi coach Pranesh Amarsee: “This is the best moment in my coaching career winning over Lautoka on their home ground. We were second best coming here but my young players showed great character to get the result. We are just overwhelmed with this win.”

Nadi will now face Suva in the grand finale at 3pm tomorrow while Ba and Lautoka will battle for third and fourth place.
