NAVUA accomplished its mission for the 2018 Courts Inter-District Championship (IDC) after winning the Senior Division title at ANZ Stadium last week.
Team captain Vinit Chand they entered this year’s competition with a mission – to win the final.
“We have been playing in the final for the last four years and after falling short in the past two years, we did it this year and the credit goes to all my teammates and hardworking officials.
“We believed in each other and complemented each other during this tournament.
“We came here with a mission and that mission has been accomplished,” he said.
Chand dedicated the win to all Fijians as Fiji commemorated Independence Day.
“This win is for all Fijians here and across the globe as its Fiji Day today (October 10) and there is no better feeling than winning a title for your team on your country’s Independence Day.”
Navua defeated defending champions Nadroga 2-0 with second half goals from Chand and veteran Seveci Rokotakala.
They walked away with $7,500 with the winning trophy with Nadroga settled with $2,500 as runner up.
