The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) / Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Senior C-License Coaching Course was conducted at the Fiji Football Technical Academy in Ba from April 23-26.
Fiji FA Instructor and Technical Director Ravinesh Kumar, together with Fiji FA Coach Educator Yogendra Dutt conducted the 40-hour course with 22 participants attending the course.
Kumar confirmed the candidates were from all the divisions in Fiji.
He said the football environment created at the academy enabled effective teaching and learning process.
“The candidates comprised of a mixture of new and experience coaches who are currently involved with the district senior teams and who are in the final youth stages,” Kumar said.
“Some big names in the course were Ronil Kumar (Ba Coach), Pranesh Amarsee (Nadi Coach), and Villiame Toma (former player who is trying to transit into a coach).”
Kumar outlined two major objectives of this course.
“To develop coaches’ competences by providing experiences while preparing coaches to be better adapted to new challenges and to develop participants’ ability to plan, prepare, conduct and evaluate appropriate coaching sessions underpinned by an understanding of basic and general principles of the game.”
This course will lead to the OFC B-License course which would be conducted at the end of the year.
“By the end of this course (C-License), the participants had a clear understanding of the new OFC coaching convention and pathway.
“The process was very clear for all to enjoy education, training and learning. Senior coaches also commended that they learnt new ways for improvement which has further enhanced their coach education level.
“It was clear that they are in an environment which progressing the participants from Senior Course to the C License course.”
“This course has made a huge impact on the participants and gave them room for improvements.
“Fiji FA is thankful to all participants, districts associations and OFC for allowing the opportunity.”
