Dreketi are no tournament bunnies, as they have shown in the past few years. Drawn as the bottom team in this pool based on their current Vodafone Premier League standing, they are right in the mix, and will be out to keep their record of a big game first up.
With the tag as Giant Killers, the northerners will rely on the fan support as usual and would do wonders.
Their young side has made great strides in gaining confidence. They already have the readymade game to counter big guns in their pool and any team that underestimates them will do so at their own peril.
With more young players in the side, over the past season Dreketi has probably learnt the lesson that long term success comes from building up their own set of players. They can be surprise packet at the 2017 Vodafone Fiji FACT if they can turn some of their magic from last year’s appearance.
They have nothing to lose and if they play with their hearts they will provide many anxious moment for the other sides in the pool.
Dreketi plays Labasa at 5.30pm on the opening day of the 2017 Vodafone Fiji FACT at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori and faces Nadi at 1pm on Saturday and their final pool match will be against Ba at 12.30pm on Sunday.
