Courts IDC Torch Starts Friday

The 2017 Courts Inter District Championship torch relay will start this Friday from the Courts Store in Ba.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said the torch relay would pass through all Courts outlets in the country.

“The torch relay will start at the Courts shop in Ba and go through all other outlets in Fiji,” Yusuf said.

“All district teams will wear their Courts jersey and carry the torch in their own towns.

“It’s a three-day program beginning on Friday and on Saturday will be in the Suva and Nausori corridor and then a day before we kick off the torch will come through Navua all the way to Lautoka by the afternoon.”

Yusuf also thanked Courts for sponsoring the tournament for the past years.

“We at Fiji FA are privileged to have you as partners with us for the past years and we will not hesitate to continue this great partnership that have a vision for Fiji putting money back to the youths of Fiji so that the sports can develop,” he said.

“Courts IDC at Churchill Park will create an electric atmosphere not only for the first day but the whole entire tournament and this will bring old football fans who have resided overseas to come and recap on those good old days.

Courts director marketing Anil Senewiratne said they had been sponsoring this tournament for 18 years and an agreement to continue sponsoring was due for renewal next year. Senewiratne said they had a challenging competition and the sport itself had improved and the intensity was very high.

“I know everyone is looking forward to this tournament and I wish spectators come in numbers and cheer their teams.”

A total of $130,000 was given of which was described by Senewiratne as the largest sponsorship in the Fiji FA calendar. The top winner in group A will play against the runner-up for group B while the winner for group B will play against the runner-up in group A on Saturday October 14.

The final will be played on Sunday. Ticket sales range from $15 adults and $7 for children in the pavilion A while $12 for adult and $5 for pavillion B and embankment is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Wednesday 11/10/17- 2pm- Labasa vs Dreketi, 4pm- Suva vs Nadi, 6pm- Lautoka vs Tavua, 8pm- Rewa vs Ba.

Thursday 12/10/17- 2pm- Suva vs Tavua, 4pm- Ba vs Dreketi, 6pm- Labasa vs Rewa, 8pm Lautoka vs Nadi.
