Dayal’s Sawmillers Ba FC has taken a major step towards lifting the 2026 Extra Premier League title after opening a four-point lead at the top of the standings with just two rounds remaining.
The Men in Black secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Extra Supermarket Labasa FC at Subrail Park, with Etonio Dogalau scoring the winner in the 93rd minute.
Labasa had taken an early lead through Rex Naime in the third minute before Nabil Begg equalised from the penalty spot in first-half injury time.
The victory moved Ba to 36 points, four clear of Stratum Construction Rewa FC and Labasa FC, who are both on 32 points.
Rewa moved into second place on goal difference after producing a commanding 4-0 win over Global Care Suva FC. Josaia Sela, Asivorosi Rabo, Semi Matalau and Neemish Prasad were on target for the Delta Tigers.
Lautoka FC also recorded an impressive result, defeating Coastal Rental Cars/MMM Brothers Nadroga FC 3-1 despite playing with 10 men following Maciu Tuinuku’s first-half dismissal.
Prithvi Navua FC strengthened its position with a dominant 7-2 victory over Tailevu Naitasiri FC, while Tagimoucia Nadi FC claimed a valuable 3-2 win over Nasinu FC.
Ba now needs one more victory from its remaining two matches to guarantee a record-extending 22nd league title.
The Men in Black last won the national league crown in the 2018/2019 season and are also chasing a domestic double after winning the 2026 BiC Fiji FACT earlier this year.
With Ba in control at the top, Rewa and Labasa remain locked in the battle for second place, while the fight to avoid relegation is also set for a tense finish.
