Scoring a goal on my international debut is an honour and I would like to thank my team mates for providing me with this opportunity to do so,” Waqa said. #“Representing your country is a privilege and I’m proud to be donning a jumper. My uncle who is also my namesake also represented the Ba and national team.” #Waqa is also part of the senior Ba side and got his big break against Papua New Guinea club Hekari United at the recent Oceania Champions League. Last season he also featured for the Ba Under-21 side which qualified for the National finals. #The high school student says the remainder of the OFC U-20 Championship provided the Fiji side to create history. #“The victory over American Samoa was an important one as we have crossed the first hurdle. Four other hurdle stands between us and the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand. It is up to us to decide if we want it or just sit out and watch another opportunity gone by,” he said. #Fiji plays their second match in the 2014 OFC U-20 championship on Sunday 7.30pm against New Caledonia in the feature match of the day. In other days day one matches Vanuatu edged New Caledonia 1-0 and Papua New Guinea beat Solomon Islands 2-0. # Fiji FA MEDIA # #
