Khan: We want to expose our players

Sixteen players are currently in camp for the Vodafone Fiji Futsal team and are into their final stage of preparations ahead of the New Zealand tour.#National Futsal coach Intiaz Khan said he was impressed with their fitness as they round up their final preparation for the tour.#“We have a very young squad as most players are around the age of 20,” Khan said.#“We want these players to get exposure to top level futsal. What we want to see is exposure to these players so I think it will be a great time and opportunity for us as we are playing six games against best teams.” #He said the final 14-member squad for the tour would be determined tomorrow. #“We will be taking 14 players for the tour and two players will be our non-travelling reserves.” #Khan said they have difficulties in getting a futsal goalkeeper after former Labasa and national goalkeeper Shamal Kumar was not granted leave from work. #“We are going without a specialised goalkeeper but we have trained two of our forwards to play as goalkeepers, “said Khan. “We had no choice after the unavailability of Kumar but we are fortunate to have Suraj Kumar who has willingly switched as goalkeeper together with Maciu Tuilau.”#Khan said they would still have selection open for interested futsal players and may look for some more players after the tour for the OFC Championship which will be hosted by Fiji in February, next year.#Fiji play the New Zealand side three times on the tour and will face two top clubs from New Zealand and one from New Caledonia. #The team departs for New Zealand on December 12.#Vodafone Fiji National Team#New Zealand Tour Matches#Trans Pacific Futsal Cup 2015 (Fiji/New Zealand)#15 December 2015 6.30pm New Zealand/Fiji#16 December 2015 6.30pm New Zealand/Fiji#18 December 2015 8.30pm New Zealand/Fiji#17 December 2015 1.30pm Waikato Bay of Plenty/Fiji#19 December 2015 6.30pm Auckland Futsal Federation/Fiji#20 December 2015 TBA Fiji/FC Ferrand (NCL) #
