U19 preparation on Track

The winner of this Oceania event will represent the region at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup which will be staged in New Zealand. #As host the junior All Whites have a reserved place in the World Cup and will not be part of the Oceania playoffs which will provide an island national a golden opportunity to qualify. #A reduced 23-member Fiji U19 squad is currently in camp full time and head coach Ravinesh Kumar is pleased with their progress. #“23 players have been in camp from last month. There are about 13 players who are now playing with their respective districts in the Fiji Sun Skipper Tuna National Football League,” he said. #“These players are going through various training sessions during the week days and then join their districts in the weekend. At this moment, we, the technical team of Fiji FA, including our officials would like to #acknowledge the districts for utilising the under 19 players,” he added. #The Fiji U19 from this week will play against the district sides which started last night with a clash against Nadi at Govind Park in Ba. #Along with playing the local sides, Kumar says there are plans for a tour to Australia. #“Now we will be also playing the National League games against the districts. This will be mostly in the week days. These games will be taken as our build up for the Oceania Under 19 Qualifiers.”#“The Under 19 side is looking at travelling to Australia in April for some more build up matches. I would like to request the entire nation to support our National under 19 side as this is one of the greatest chances of #qualifying to the World Cup for the first time,” Kumar said. #“I would like to thank the parents, teachers, coaches and officials of the under 19 players for their support so far. It is not very easy for players who are still 18 years old now to stay away from home for 4 to 5 months. #The same to the parents who will be missing their children who are working very hard in order to serve our nation in one way or the other. We the officials and the players of the National Under Football Team are trying our utmost best to achieve excellent results for football and for our country.” # Fiji FA MEDIA
