2017 Vodafone Fiji FACT was a major success says Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf.
“Over the years we have seen the tournament grow in stature since first played in 1991,”Yusuf said.
He said overall the tournament was well played and everyone enjoyed the football atmosphere.
“From the group stages to the Semi-Finals and Final everyone enjoyed the games.”
“The level of competition among the eight districts he said was very high as they all displayed quality football.”
Cheif executive officer said the turnout was good. There were a lot of spectators from the first day and that was encouraging.
“It was good response from the fans and was good to see people of races come together, “Yusuf said.
Yusuf said the Vodafone Fiji FACT was about development but the logistic is to promote and develop football.
“The fans came out in numbers to show support to their teams and showed district pride.”
Yusuf said the fans had shown how crazy they were for football.
“I am sure they have enjoyed the competitive football displayed by all the teams.
Yusuf said there was no major incident reported during the tournament.
“We did not receive any major incident during the tournament that shows how supportive the fans are,”
The people he said were on their toes till the final match on Sunday which showed how competitive the tournament had been.
He congratulated the Rewa,Labasa, Nadi and Suva for making it to finals.
“I congratulate Rewa for winning the title on home soil after so many years and also to Nadi for giving a good go against the host, “Yusuf said.
“The final was something that the fans were expecting and it was a thriller and the best team won, “Yusuf said.
Rewa defeated Nadi 1-0 in the final via a 32 minute goal from Samuela Kautoga.
