U16 Ready for China

The Vodafone Regional Academy U16 team is all set for the fourth China (Shanghai) International Youth Football Invitational Tournament 2018 later this week.
After almost three months of preparations, the team to China was named at Fiji Football Academy in Ba last week.
Head coach Yogendra Dutt said the tournament in China would be a good build-up for their OFC Championship in September.
Dutt said it was a tough task in deciding the China squad.
“It was definitely a hard task but a criteria was there which we followed and that gave us some idea as to who all could make it to the China tour.
“The preparation phase was positive, but at times we had hiccups with problems like injuries.
“Preparations were as per the plans,” Dutt said.
He said the squad to OFC playoffs still have not been finalized.
“We made them feel comfortable here through our recreational programmes and they were sent home after 7 weeks to spend time with their family.
“The five players who could not make it to this squad still have a chance to make it to the playoffs as the squad to the OFC Championship still haven’t been finalized.”
The team departs tomorrow morning to Shanghai.
