The Tailevu/Naitasiri under 17 side are confident of winning the Southern Zone Vodafone Under 17 National League when they meet Rewa this Saturday in the second leg of the series final.
The Elvis Goundar coached side defeated Rewa 2-0 in the first leg and will need a draw to win the series on the away goal rules.
Goundar said they were confident of beating Rewa in the second leg.
“We respect Rewa as they are good team too but we do want clean victory against them, “Goundar said.
The Vunimono High School teacher said they were preparing well for the play and would do their best to win the title for the first time.
“We are preparing well and the boys are geared up during training as they know the task ahead of them.”
He said his boys were ready to create history and give back something to fans of Tailevu/ Naitasiri.
“This will be the first time win for Tailevu Naitasiri youth team to win any title,”
“I can say the boys are confident after the first win and are eager to win the series.”
Goundar has urged Tailevu Naitasiri fans, parents and families to come out in numbers and support the team.
“The boys need everyone’s support so I urge all fans to come and support the boys and be the twelfth player for the side.
He thanked Fiji Football Association for an initiative to organise u-17 league which helps a lot in the development of football in the country.
“I must thank Fiji Football for fully funding and organising league for Under 17 boys as this is the right pathway for development of football in every distrcits.
Goundar believes there would be great future for Tailevu Naitasiri as they could see some potential players who will be featuring for the senior team as they have got the exposure and experience in playing the national league.
The final leg will be played this Saturday at 1pm at Fiji Football Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.
