Rewa first into semi-finals as IDC battle heats up

Stratum/Lincoln Rewa FC became the first Super Premier team to qualify for the FMF Inter-District Championship semi-finals after beating Extra Supermarket Labasa FC 3-0 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The Delta Tigers moved to six points from two matches, confirming their place in Saturday’s semi-finals with one pool match remaining.

After a scoreless first half, Josaia Sela broke the deadlock in the 70th minute before Merrill Nand struck twice in the 75th and 80th minutes to seal the victory.

Earlier, defending Extra Premier League champions Dayals Steel Ba FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Vantex Solutions Navua FC.

Nabil Begg and John Orobulu put Ba 2-0 ahead before Simione Damuni pulled one back for Navua in first-half injury time. Navua captain Peniame Drova then struck in the 89th minute to earn his side a point.

Khelvin Realtors Lautoka FC recorded a 5-2 victory over Pacific Heavy Industries Nadi FC. Epeli Leiroti and Luciano Orzo gave Lautoka an early advantage before Aabid Mohammed pulled one back for Nadi.

Rusiate Matarerega, Sterling Vasconcellos and an own goal completed Lautoka’s scoring, while Eneriko Matau was also on target for Nadi.

Kells Investment/Global Care Suva FC and Nasinu FC shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Gagame Feni scored twice for Suva, while Jone Rupeni and a Suva own goal helped Nasinu secure a point.

In the Premier Division, the Fiji U-17 side opened its campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory over Crusoe’s Retreat Tailevu Naitasiri FC. Nivaan Reddy scored in the 20th minute before Mustafeez Khan sealed the win in the 75th minute.

Seaqaqa FC also secured its place in the Premier Division semi-finals following a 1-1 draw against Alfaaz Security Services Nadroga FC at Buckhurst Park. The result took Seaqaqa to four points after its 4-2 opening-day victory over Kiribati.

In the Senior Division, Savusavu bounced back with a 2-0 victory over Cooling Down California Rakiraki FC, while Nadogo edged Taveuni 1-0.

Dreketi defeated Bua 3-1, while Northland Tailevu recorded a 2-1 victory over Lami.
