Semi-final race goes down to final pool matches

The battle for places in the FMF Inter-District Championship Super Premier semi-finals will go down to the final round of pool matches at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today.

Defending champions Stratum/Lincoln Rewa FC are the only side assured of a place in the last four after collecting six points from their opening two matches in Pool A.

Rewa opened its campaign with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Nasinu before beating Extra Supermarket Labasa FC 3-0 last night.

The focus in Pool A will now turn to the 3.30pm clash between Labasa and Nasinu.

Labasa sit on three points and a victory will guarantee their place alongside Rewa in the semi-finals.

Nasinu, on one point, need a win to keep their campaign alive, while Kells Investment/Global Care Suva FC, also on one point, face a must-win encounter against Rewa at 7.30pm.

Pool B remains wide open with Dayals Steel Ba FC and Vantex Solutions Navua FC on four points, while Khelvin Realtors Lautoka FC are close behind on three.

Lautoka face Navua at 1.30pm in a match that could decide their tournament fate. A victory will take Lautoka to six points and guarantee them a semi-final berth, while Navua need only a draw to secure qualification.

Ba face winless Pacific Heavy Industries Nadi FC at 5.30pm, knowing a win or draw will secure their place in Saturday’s semi-finals.

Nadi, who have lost their opening two matches, are out of the race but could still have a major say in which teams advance.

With Rewa the only confirmed Super Premier semi-finalist, three places remain up for grabs heading into today’s four decisive matches.
