President praise efforts for title defense

Rewa Football Association president Nazeel Buksh is indebted to all the stakeholders for a successful Vodafone Fiji FACT title defense at Ratu Cakobau Park last Sunday.
The Delta Tigers outclassed tournament favourites Labasa 5-3 (PK) in a mouth-watering clashing in front of over 9,000 fans gathered in Nausori.
Buksh said winning the title back-to-back at home brings a great feeling.
He commended Labasa for giving a tough challenge.
“That was one hell of a match. Labasa gave us a very tough challenge for the title but our players stood their ground and together with the fans’ support, we managed to hold the title for another year now.
“I think that 4-0 defeat to Labasa during the pool match was not part of our plan as we fielded our second stream team.
“That paid off well as our boys went fresh and focused to battle Lautoka in the semifinal which was also one of the toughest game for us in this tournament,” Buskh said.
Buksh thanked all the stakeholders as he believes the victory would not have been successful without their support.
“I would like to thank the fans who came out in numbers, the players, their families, Nausori Town Council for hosting this event.
“I believe this was one of the best hosted final I have seen in many years, one of the biggest crowd recorded itself shows the success of the tournament.
“I commend the council and Fiji Football Association for a wonderful job done despite the weather conditions that we had for the past two weeks.
“I would fail on my duties if I do not thank my officials. Without them, our team is nothing. They really put in a lot of effort in molding the team, looking after their needs and doing whatever possible.”
Rewa walked away $15,000 richer with the FACT trophy while Labasa settled for $4,000 as runner up.
