Kiuva village will host the first Just Play Programme community course for this year next week Friday and Saturday.
Fiji Football Association Just Play manager Lavenia Yalovi says communities volunteers from 10 villages in Tailevu South will participate in the propose course.
“Just Play is a sport for development programme designed to target children aged 6 -12 years of age with four objectives, “she said.
The fours objectives are
To increase healthier lifestyle choices and to reduce risk factors associated with NCDs
To promote gender equality and change perceptions towards women and girls and to create opportunities and pathways to promote empowering among women’s and girls
To increase opportunities and encourage social inclusion of persons with special needs and to promote a change of perception towards persons with special needs in the wider community
To increase understanding of child protection in communities
The 4 objectives are integrated into the programming using key messages in fun and educational activities. Each activity has a focus on one of the following topics:
Making healthy choices
Respecting and understanding differences
Keeping yourself and others safe
Treating everyone equally
Upcoming Just Play Courses later this year will cover other Member Association Districts affiliated to FFA in partnership with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Ministry of Education, and OFC and with the help of our financial partners: The Australian Government, New Zealand Government, and UEFA foundation for children, Football Federation of Australia, UNICEF.
