Former players help in program

Former players have joined in assisting the kids during the Mom & Pop League which entered its third week last Saturday.

Former Ba reps and current coaches Salen Lal and Roneel Kumar joined in to help kids during the Mom & Pop League program in Ba while former Rewa and Vodafone national women’s football coach Marika Rodu assisted the program in Rewa.

Former Navua reps Ismail Shameem and Nasir Ali with current Suva rep Iosefo Verevou are assisting in the program at Vashist Muni Primary School ground in Navua.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf acknowledged the support of the former players for their contribution in the program.

“I would like to thank these former players in coming forward voluntarily in assisting in the program,”

“Their presence itself boost confidence in the upcoming stars of Fiji and the kids always look forward in meeting them, “said Yusuf.

The Mom & Pop League which is the program for children under 10 has been growing every week with numbers increasing at seven venues around the country.

Yusuf said it was great to see the interest growing in children and parents in football.

“It is something to see the kids as small as six years coming with their parents and playing football which shows how passionate some children are to football,” said Yusuf.

He said the program was not only for children to have fun, training and enjoyment but it was also about national unity.

“We are working towards of our football philosophy that is “Equality and Unity through Football and we are working towards anti-discrimination and diversity program which FIFA is also working on, “Yusuf said.

The Mom & Pop League is held at Fiji FA Academy Ground in Ba, Churchill Park Ground Two in Lautoka, Nadi Sangam Primary School on Nadi, Labasa Sangam Primary School in Labasa, Vashist Muni Primary School in Navua, Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa and Saraswati Manoca Primary School Ground in Rewa.

The programs starts at 10am and ends at 12pm.
