Fiji FA mourns Nasara

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) president Rajesh Patel, its board members and the entire football fraternity is saddened to learn the passing away of former national team player and Tavua legend Savenaca Nasara.

Tagged as the “captain with injured toe”, Nasara led his fellow Tavua team to its first Fiji Fact victory at Ratu Cakobau Park beating Suva 1-0 in the final.

Another highlight of his career was when he captained the Tavua side with an injured toe to lift the first ever Inter-District Championship title in Lautoka beating Nadi 2-0.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf acknowledged the contribution of Nasara on the football arena.

“It’s a huge loss. He was a great player of his time and contributed immensely whenever he was given an opportunity to do so. A great leader and an entertaining football player. He will surely be missed by those who knew him.”

Yusuf said his thoughts and prayers go out to the family in this difficult time.

“Our heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolence is with his family at this difficult point in time and I pray to the Almighty that his soul rest in peace.”

Nasara’s call from heaven came last week Thursday and was laid to rest today.
