Fiji FA introduces Over-50 division for veterans tournament

The Fiji Football Association has introduced a new Over-50 division for this year’s RC Manubhai & APCO Coating Fiji International Veterans Tournament, giving more former footballers the opportunity to continue playing the game they love.
The annual tournament will be held from September 11 to 13 at Govind Park and the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Ba during the Extra Battle of the Giants tournament.
The competition will feature two divisions, with the Over-40 category limited to the first 16 teams and the newly introduced Over-50 division restricted to eight teams.
Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf said the tournament continued to promote healthy living while bringing the football community together.
“This tournament is more than just competition. It encourages our former players to stay active, maintain their fitness and reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases by continuing to play football,” Yusuf said.
“We are delighted to introduce the Over-50 division this year, giving more veteran players the opportunity to participate during one of Fiji’s biggest football weekends.”
Yusuf said the tournament also had a strong community focus.
“All income generated from the tournament will go towards the welfare of former players, including assisting with the education of their children. It is our way of giving back to those who have contributed so much to football in Fiji.”
Registration forms are available from the Fiji FA Competitions Department, with entries closing on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The entry fee is $500 per team, and prize money will be awarded to the champions and runners-up in both the Over-40 and Over-50 divisions.
