FIFA/OFC Futsal Coaching Course Ends

A week long FIFA/OFC Futsal Coaching Course concluded last Friday at Fiji Football Association Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.

The cousre was conducted by FIFA/OFC futsal development officer Paul Toohey.

Fiji FA vice president and futsal chairman Jainendra Sukhu while closing the course expressed his gratitude for Toohey’s delivery of the course, thanking him for providing opportunities for the game to develop in Fiji.

“We are very thankful to our FIFA Instructor Paul Toohey for accepting our invitation at the last minute to come and instruct this week long programme,” said Sukhu.

“We all want to make a headway in futsal and that is why we organise such courses.”

Sukhu said he was sure the particiaptions would use the knowledge they gained and utilise in your club or district.”

He said Fiji FA is doing all it could do to develop futsal in the country.

“We have just revived futsal back last year and now we had started the futsal league in the south and hope you all would use your knowledge gained here in your districts.”

Fiji futsal national rep and league coordinator Mira Saheb thanked the participants for having passion for futsal.

“I must thank all the participants for showing their love for futsal, “said Saheb.

“I know this is the time when everyone goes into festive mood but you 20 passionate futsal lovers sacrificed your week for the betterment of the game.”

He urged all the participants to help in Fiji national futsal teams dream to play in the FIFA World Cup.

“I urge you all to make our dream in reality to play in the FIFA Futsal World Cup as you all know that is our dream.

“We as players could not do it but we should do it but do it as coaches because there are lot of potentials in our country.

He said we just need to groom our players because we could see all around people playing small side games but they lack basics in the futsal game.

Fiji FA Just Play manager Lavenia Yalovi who was also part of the week long course praised Fiji FA for having such course.

“I think it is a good idea to have people like us who love the game but have no knowledge about coaching the game and today we all are going from here with tons of knowledge.

She said she would use what all she learnt from the course in her Just Play Programme with kids.

“I will be introducing futsal in my Just Play festivals as part of development as I have learnt a lot,”Yalovi said.

The twenty participants were awarded a FIFA recongnition certificate.
