THE Fiji Bula Boys will get an opportunity to avenge their only loss of the tournament when they face Vanuatu in the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup final at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Saturday.
The final kicks off at 4pm and will see the two best sides from the round-robin stage battle for the title.
Fiji finished second on seven points, behind Vanuatu on goal difference, to secure its place in the decider.
The Bula Boys started their campaign with a 3-all draw against Solomon Islands before going down 1-0 to Vanuatu.
They bounced back strongly with a 2-0 win over Papua New Guinea before beating New Caledonia 2-1 to confirm their place in the final.
Vanuatu, meanwhile, recovered from an opening 2-1 loss to Papua New Guinea and went on to beat Fiji 1-0, draw 3-all with Solomon Islands and defeat New Caledonia 4-1.
Saturday’s clash will be the second meeting between Fiji and Vanuatu in the tournament, but this time the title will be at stake.
Fiji will look to captain Roy Krishna for experience while youngsters Maikah Dau and other members of the squad will be eager to continue making their mark on the international stage.
The home side will also be hoping to make full use of the advantage of playing in front of its supporters.
Fiji will be chasing its first Melanesian men’s title since 2000, while Vanuatu will be looking to retain the crown it won last year.
The final kicks off at 4pm on Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium.
