Ba on the roll

The Ba football side continued its unbeaten run in the Vodafone Premier League beating Rewa 2-0 in the lone fixture on Sunday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Ba scored in the 19th minute through the left footed Darold Kakasi who beat goalkeeper Jovilisi Bosrisi from an acute angle after receiving a cross from Avinesh Waran Suwamy puuting the ball behind the net from in between the legs of Borisi.

The Men-in Black without their regulars Malakai Tiwa, Saula Waqa and Narendra Rao displayed constructive and organized football in front of more than 300 fans.

Ba got its second goal in the 58th minute Saniala Waqanicakou headed in a Suwamy free-kick.

Rewa coach Pita Rabo said they had to dig deep now after the loss.

“We were hoping a win or a draw in this match but unfortunately we could achieved that,”Rabo said

“This was our last match of the first round and we have time now to work on all our mistakes and focus on the INKK Battle of the Giants and second round of the Vodafone Premier League,”he said.

The former national midfielder said they could not put their head down now but would have to work hard on the mistakes.

“We need to go back to the drawing board and iron our mistakes before the BOG and second round of VPL,”

Rabo believes the downfall in the team was because of not having a good leader in the team.

“I think the weakness is we don’t have a good captain who can hold the team together and can communicate and someone who can control the game and I think that is the major problem in the side as we do  not have a good leader to guide this player on the field,”

“We need a player who could stand and hold the team together and talks with the players, “said Rabo.

Ba coach Roneel Kumar was happy with the win.

“We came here to win and I am happy the boy’s played according to our plan and most I am so proud of some of my youth players and played gallantly, “said Kumar.

Ba now moves on to second spot with 13 points after playing five matches and will face Tavua this Sunday at 3pm at Garvey Park and the final match of first round will be against Lautoka who is also on 13 points.
