Ba FC has created another proud chapter in Fiji football history, becoming the first team to win the Extra Premier League, BiC Fiji FACT and Battle of the Giants in the same season under the modern 90-minute tournament format.
The historic achievement has come during Praneel Dayal’s first year as president of the Ba Football Association, making the club’s return to the top of Fiji football even more significant.
The Men in Black completed the treble by defeating Rewa 2–1 in the 2026 Battle of the Giants final at 4R Stadium, Govind Park.
Praneel Naidu and Penisoni Tirau scored for Ba, while Merrill Nand found the net for Rewa. Ba protected its advantage until the final whistle to secure a record-extending 18th BOG title.
It was the club’s third major title of an outstanding season, following its successes in the BiC Fiji FACT and Extra Premier League.
Ba previously won the same three competitions in 2006. However, the Fiji FACT and BOG were then played under the old 60-minute tournament format. Fiji’s major tournaments changed from 60-minute to full 90-minute matches in 2013.
That makes the 2026 achievement unique: Ba is the first team to complete the National League, Fiji FACT and BOG treble during Fiji’s 90-minute football era.
The accomplishment also highlights the immediate impact of Dayal’s leadership. Taking charge of one of Fiji’s most successful and closely followed football districts brought enormous expectations, but his first year as president has delivered three major trophies and restored Ba’s place at the summit of the domestic game.
The Men in Black ended a 16-year Fiji FACT drought by defeating Navua 3–1 in a penalty shootout after a scoreless final. Ba then secured the National League championship, ending a seven-year wait for that title.
Victory in the BOG completed the historic treble.
The road to the BOG crown tested the team’s character. Ba suffered a 3–0 defeat to Rewa during the group stage and needed to beat Lautoka in its final pool match to remain in the competition.
Ba responded with a convincing 3–1 victory before overcoming Suva 2–1 in the semifinal, despite playing part of the match with ten men.
The final provided Ba with an opportunity to avenge its earlier loss to Rewa. With the trophy at stake, the Men in Black produced a disciplined performance and secured the title within 90 minutes.
The campaign reflects the collective commitment of Dayal, head coach Ravinesh Kumar, the players, team officials, sponsors, families and loyal Ba supporters.
Dayal’s administration maintained its confidence in the team throughout the season, and that belief has now been rewarded with an achievement no other Fijian side has recorded in the 90-minute tournament era.
Ba remains the only team to have completed the National League, Fiji FACT and BOG treble twice. The first was achieved during the 60-minute tournament era in 2006, while the second has come 20 years later under the full 90-minute format.
The longer matches demand greater fitness, concentration, tactical discipline and squad depth. Ba’s ability to succeed across the league and two major tournaments demonstrates the quality and resilience of the present team.
The season, however, is not over for the Men in Black.
Ba will now turn its attention to the FMF Inter-District Championship, a trophy the side narrowly missed out on last year after losing to Rewa in the final.
That defeat will provide extra motivation as Ba seeks to go one step further and add the IDC crown to an already historic collection.
Victory would give the Men in Black all four major domestic titles and complete an extraordinary sweep of Fiji football’s biggest competitions.
For Dayal, winning three major titles in his first year as president already represents an exceptional beginning to his leadership. Adding the FMF IDC would elevate the campaign to an even greater level and secure its place among the finest seasons in the club’s proud history.
For Ba’s supporters, the message is clear: the winning culture traditionally associated with the famous black jersey has returned.
Twenty years after its first treble, Ba has done it again—this time under the 90-minute format and in Praneel Dayal’s first year as president.
Now, the Men in Black have one more major trophy in their sights.
