It is a hard ache for us that we didn’t get through to the FIFA Under 20 World Cup.
We tried our best, there were some calls made on the field that were totally against us which I believe cost us but that is water under the bridge.
This is second year of my presidency and the development plans implemented have been taken into consideration and you can see the Fiji youth teams are coming up. At the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Under 20 playoffs we finished second and this is something positive that we will take into the future and make sure that we don’t take any chances next time but we qualify.
The current development programme we have in place will continue to develop raw talents for the future national sides and the current age group players will qualify for the next age group sides.
I would like to thank the national Under 20 team management and players.
We fell short of our target but indeed they played their hearts out.
To the fans thank you for the support and prayers.
A special thanks to OFC for considering Fiji as the host and I’m sure more tournaments will head our way in the near future.
Also thanks to Kappa who supported the U20 side.
Our next challenge is the OFC U-17 World Cup playoffs in Vanuatu.
The current squad have n any game time or much preparation as they are all school students and their education was taken into consideration.
They are in the camp now and they will be going to the Vanuatu for the under 17 playoffs and the core of team will make the next under 20 team.
We will be starting under 15 and under 13 league and this will definitely get our development on track and in future we have to ensure that we maintain it and that will be the easiest way to qualify for the World Cup.
