Fiji FA confirms 2014/15 Awards Nights

Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar said this year the awards Night would be bigger and better than previous years. He said they have planned for some interesting awards which would make the event more interesting.#“We are looking at different sponsors for different awards”, said Kumar.#“Each award will have a sponsor and the sponsors will get the naming right for the award.” #Kumar said there are 16 awards at stake and will be selected by an independent group.#The annual awards night will be held on March 5 in Suva and the nomination closes at 5pm on February 19. #“We have 16 awards to give and we are looking for sponsors for each award and there has been lots of interest shown by the business sector.#Kumar said the awards night is to recognise the achievements of footballers in Fiji locally and internationally. It is an opportunity for football managers to give recognition for the achievements made by the footballers that will have a lasting effect in his or her sporting career.#The categories for the award include:#1. Footballer of the Year (Male/Female)#This category is aimed at those male and female players who took part or achieved outstanding results in either local, regional or International Competitions.#2. Junior Footballer of the Year (Male)#The Junior Footballer of the Year the nominee must be under the age of 20 years as at 30th September of the year in which nominated. Proof of date of birth may be required.#3. Coach of the Year#The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.#4. Referee of the Year#The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.#5. Fair Play Award#The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year.#6. Team of the Year#This award targets teams that have achieved top results for their sport either locally, abroad or both.#Nomination for the awards night will close at 5pm on Friday 19 February. # #7. Media Personnel of the Year#The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year and their contribution to promoting Fiji FA.#8. Administrator of the Year (Premier/Senior)#The person should be nominated primarily for their achievements during the year, however contribution for the three year period including the current year shall be accepted.#9. Popular Footballer of the Year#This particular category is decided through public voting whereby 6 nominations are done by Fiji Football Association. These 6 nominations then go through public voting (texting competitions) which is done by radio and TV stations in the country. The highest text getter becomes the Popular Footballer of the Particular year.#10. Junior Women Footballer of the Year – Female (Introductory Award)#The Junior Footballer of the Year (female) the nominee must be under the age of 20 years as at 30th September of the year in which nominated. Proof of date of birth may be required.#11. Goal of the Year#The person nominated must have scored this goal in any Fiji FA Competition during the period “01st October 2014 – 30 September 2015”.#12. Football Personality of the Year (Fiji FA Presidents Award)#Fiji FA President will announce#13. Volunteer of the Year#The person nominated must have been actively involved during the period “01st October 2014 – 30 September 2015”.#14. Employee of the Year#To be selected by Fiji FA Management/Board of Control#
