Greetings to all#Vodafone Fiji U20 #The Vodafone Fiji Under-20 side on Tuesday afternoon met with honorable Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.The presence of Mr. Bainimarama and other ministers made the function a special one for Fiji Football Association. #This is the first time in history that we were being hosted by the prime minister. We are honoured and would like to thank Mr. Bainimarama for this kind gesture. #At this function, the prime minister also offered a token of thanks to the victorious U20 side. #Each player and team official will be handed a sum of $500 each as Mr. Bainimarama handed out a cheque. #This goes to show that the government is behind the various sports in the country and want to see that a sport like football reaches greater heights. This followed the grant for the U20 championship and later the salary of national coach Juan Carlos Buzzetti which is now accommodated by the Fiji Sports Commission. #INKK Mobile BOG 2014 #The stage is set for the 2014 INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament which will be staged in Ba and Suva next month. #The official launch of the second major local football event will take place with the pool draws which will be conducted next Monday at the Fiji Football Association headquarters in Vatuwaqa. #On this note I would like to thank sponsors CJ Patel and Vodafone who have brought in a huge consortium sponsorship of $5million towards football. #Their continued support drives in the continuous growth of football in the country and we are thankful to the sponsors. #Congratulations#I would like to congratulate our very own Roy Krishna who featured for his Wellington Phoenix side against English Premier League club West Ham United last week.#Krishna came off the bench, this marked another achievement for him. We at Fiji FA hope Krishna reaches greater heights and we would like to thank him for being a great ambassador for Fiji FA. #Also I would like to warmly congratulate three of our referees who have been named in the official’s panel for the upcoming OFC Futsal Invitation scheduled to take place in New Caledonia next month. #The three are Amitesh Behari, Jainut Dean and Labasa lad Kamendra Naidu. I hope this trio will make the country proud. #Historical Launch #Women football districts in the country will receive equipment provided by FIFA in partnership with the famous Adidas brand this Saturday at the National Football Academy in Ba. #In 2012, FIFA launched a support programme for national women’s football competitions with the aim to assist member associations in developing and strengthening women football in the region. #The equipment provided will cater for 12 district teams which accommodate 22 players per team. #Fiji Football Association is indeed grateful to FIFA/Adidas for the generous contribution and believes that our goal towards the development of women football in Fiji is achievable.#FIJI FA MEDIA #
