Vodafone Fiji FACT battle heats up

In Group A, Tailevu/Naitasiri makes their debut by playing against Labasa in Nausori at 2pm followed by the Rewa and Suva showdown at 4pm.#In Group B defending champions Nadi take on Nadroga at 2pm while Ba face Lautoka at 4pm.#The final round of the tournament will be held at Prince Charles Park, Nadi the following weekend.#Suva coach Gurjit Singh said it is not easy taking on Rewa in the opening match.#“Rewa are always tough especially on their home ground so we are expecting a very good game them.”#The Capital City side last won the Fiji FACT in 2012 and last year they lost in the final.#Suva wi l l miss the services of Vodafone Fiji Under-20 defender Kolinio Sivuki, midfielder Nickel Chand and defender Jale Dreloa in the tournament.#Rewa coach Marika Rodu is confident of a good outing for his side despite missing the Vodafone Fiji U20 players of Setereki Hughes, Iosefo Verevou, Tevita Warainivalu and Gerish Prasad.#“We are well-prepared to take Suva and we respect them as we know they played well at the OFC Champions League and will come out firing against us.#“I urge all Rewa fans to support the team as they will be doing their best to lift the Fiji FACT trophy,” Rodu#remarked.#Rewa last won the Fiji FACT in 2001 and were runner-up in 2003. #Tailevu/Naitasiri president Sandeep Roy said they are preparing well for Labasa.#“We were very much fortunate to have Tagi Vonolagi back as our coach and doing his best to prepare the team for the tournament.#“We are not taking Labasa lightly as we know Labasa is always strong during tournaments but we will not let our fans go home disappointed, said Roy.#Tailevu/Naitasiri have included goalkeeper Al i feret i Balei loa, Joseph Elder, Luke Rawadamu, Apisai Sesewa, Nasoni Mereke and Keni Doidoi.#Tailevu/Naitasiri is yet to win the Fiji FACT title.#Labasa president Rayaz Ali said they are preparing well and they respect Tailevu/Naitasiri a lot.#“We know Tailevu/Naitasiri will be doing their best against us as.#They have recruited some experienced players but we will do our best to contest them.”#Labasa wi l l bank on new recruit and former Suva marksman Ravinesh Karan Singh to do wonders for them.#The Babasiga Lions have arrived in Viti Levu and are now camping in Nausori.#Labasa have won the Fiji FACT twice- 1992 and 1997 and played seven times in the final.#The Lautoka football side will not leave any stones unturned as they take on Ba in the opening match on Sunday.#Blues coach Lambert Sarju said they are not underestimating any team and playing against Ba would be a challenge.#He added the players have been training hard for the past weeks and are determined to win every match in the tournament.#Lautoka have won the Fiji FACT twice- 2000 and 2002- and featured in the finals three times. Nadi president Navneeda Goundar said they are confident of a strong outing.#The defending champions will be missing some of their key players but Goundar is confident that they will do their best in the opening match.#“We will not take Nadroga lightly as they are known to be giant killers when it comes to tournament.#The Jet Setters won the title twice in 1996 and 2013 and also played in the finals twice.#Avikash Chand#Fiji FA Media#
