Speaking to Fiji FA Media, Naidu said he never expected to be selected in the 17-member squad.#“I never thought I would be called into camp and selected to represent my country in the Olympics,“ said Naidu.#The Dreketi goalkeeper said it was always his dream to play in the world stage and today feels it has come to reality.#“I always wanted to play against the world’s top players and be part of the Fiji Olympic team is a great honor for me.”#The 21-year-old chef is looking forward to being between the goal post and doing his best to make the country proud.#“My Olympic goal is to perform to the best of my ability and make my country and my parents proud.#“I know my parents are proud of my achievements and they will be looking forward to watching me on television.”#Originally from Ba and now playing for Dreketi football side, Naidu started his career as a goalkeeper after getting advice from his primary school coach Yogendra Dutt who is also the assistant coach for the team.#“I would like to thank master Dutt for guiding me and today I am here because of him, because he made me play goalkeeper.#“I would like to thank god, my parents who have been very supportive throughout this journey and it’s a dream come true to be part of this Olympic squad and will give my best to make the country proud.”#Naidu was part of the Fiji U-20 side which competed at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand last year.#
