New facilities unveiled in Ba

FIFA Vice-President and OFC President David Chung was the chief guest at the inauguration of the gym which is funded by the FIFA Income Generation Project (Win Win).
Chung said the opening of the new gym stems from a desire to see football in Fiji develop and grow.
“We have seen from the results the Fiji national teams have achieved for the past few years that there is plenty of talent to be found in Fiji.
“With the new facilities in place the Fiji FA technical department has a greater capacity to build on these foundations and develop strong competitive players and teams.
Chung said Fiji FA is taking its service to the community one step further, catering not only to the Fiji football community but to the community as a whole.
“This gymnasium can serve a wide range of people from athletics and people recovering from injuries.”
Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel said the national football academy has definitely lacked equipment and a fitness center was what was needed for the players to excel.
“It is something that a player when they grow up and want to become a professional player needs to know. Strength and conditioning is in line with the skills of football that they develop.”
Patel said Fiji Football is really fortunate and proud to have the equipment and fitness center now open in Ba.
“At the same time we felt that we needed a full-time trainer and also a physiotherapist that will guide the players and today I am glad to announce that Varoon Karan who is our physical trainer for Fiji football and also the physiotherapist will be based here in Ba.
“He is a license physiotherapist and will be conducting private clinics, “Patel said.
He thanked FIFA and Oceania for giving Fiji FA the vision and guidance to complete this project and continuing to assist in building up the foundations of Fiji football.
