Wise grateful with Dutt’s appointment

Fiji FA vice-president and women’s football director Susan Wise said 31 players are currently in camp.
“We have a preliminary squad in camp now and we will select the best in a few weeks time,” said Wise.
She said they are very grateful that former Ba and national coach Yogendra Dutt has been appointed to become the coach.
“We have Dutt as our coach and he brings a lot of experience with him, which will help the girls a lot.
“We have few difficulties in getting the team together because of the school examinations but we are hoping to prepare them well for the championship.
“This will be the first time a national under-17 girls team will participate in the championship and we will not let any stone unturned to prepare the best for the tourney.
Wise said the girls would participate in the Ultimate Sports tournament and the best players would be selected after looking at their performance.
“It will be good to see the girls playing against teams from Australia and the west, north and south during the Ultimate Sports which will give them more game time and also for the coach to select his best 22.
“Women’s football is doing well in Fiji at the moment and we hope to continue that with a positive result at the U17 competition.”
The 2016 OFC U17 Women’s Championship will take place in the Cook Islands from January 13-23, 2016 with eight of the OFC’s Member Associations competing.
The top two teams from each group progress to the semifinals of the tournament, with the eventual winner awarded direct entry to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016.
Fiji has been drawn in Group B alongside Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and the Cook Islands.
