Fiji U20 squad for President’s Cup

Seaqaqa team striker Gabriele Matanasiga is the only new face in the squad as the other 20 were part of the squad during the playoffs earlier this year in Suva.
Matanasiga was named as the “New find of the Tournament” at the recent Courts Inter District Championship.
NZ based trio Shuiab Khan, Divikesh Deo and Altaaf Sahib will also reunite with the squad.
The OFC President’s Cup will be played from November 17-23, 2014 at the Trust Arena, Auckland.
Kumar believes the road to the 2015 U20 FIFA World Cup will be a challenge for his young side and that every outing will only make them better.
“The OFC President’s Cup will provide us with more international exposure in our build up to the World Cup in NZ,” Kumar said.
“We will be facing similar types of side at the World Cup and I think this experience should be a good one for the players. Since the playoffs the squad has gone through various camps and the President’s Cup will be an opportunity to gauge our strength, weakness and progress.”
At the OFC President’s Cup, Fiji U20 has been seeded in Group B alongside Amicale FC of Vanuatu and Busaiteen of Bahrain the only professional club in the competition.
Auckland City (NZ), Bodden Town (Cayman Islands) and Singapore U23 occupy Group A.
The Fiji U20 side will travel to Australia this weekend to play four warm up matches before heading to NZ for the OFC President’s Cup.
The squad has been preparing at the Fiji Football Association headquarters ground in Vatuwaqa under the guidance of coach Kumar, technical advisor Frank Farina, assistant coach
Shalen Lal and goal keeper coach Iosefo Visaboto.
